The Kankakee Area Camera Club was founded in 1938 by residents who shared an interest in photography. The goal of the club is to stimulate photography and related arts and sciences; additionally, we strive to promote social and professional fellowship among members. The club is still active today for and open to members of all skill levels from beginner to professional.

The Kankakee Area Camera Club meets every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month (September through May) at 7:00pm at the River Valley Metro Mass Transit District Office Building (located at 1137 E. 5000N Rd. Bourbonnais, IL  60914). Please enter through the door on the east side of the building.

Camera club membership is open to anyone over (18) years of age, interested in any phase of photography or members under the age of (18) who are a part of a family group at the discretion of the governing board.

Camera Club member benefits:

  • (2) in person meetings per month, (1) member night, and the year end banquet.

  • Entries in the club sponsored regular and theme competitions.

  • Entries in CACCA competitions.

Club dues shall be payable annually on or before the first meeting of September each year. New members entering the club before January will pay full dues and those who enter after January 1st will pay half dues.

The camera club dues are as follows:

  • Competing member - $30

  • Student member - $15

  • Non competing member - $20

  • Spouses are $10 less

Club competition basics:

Any member in good standing may enter prints or digital images in competitions. Photos are judged by a panel of (3) members from outside the club on a scale of 5 to 9 for a total scoring of 15 to 27. New members shall compete in “B” (Beginner) or “A” (Advanced) and are welcome to self-assess their skill level and move up before the beginning of the competition year (September) otherwise at the end of the competition year (May) all competitors in “B” class who achieve an average of a 22.5 or higher will move up to “A” class for the following year.
